The Frankie Manning Foundation is are thrilled to announce that Frankie Manning is the Google Doodle today!
Huge thanks to Google for honoring the memory and legacy of this legendary Lindy hopper on his 102nd birthday!!
Google is running the Doodle in 15 regions, including North America and the UK. To view the Doodle on May 26th, go to Google’s homepage www.Google.com or your local Google page. Clicking on the super cool graphic takes you to a list of Frankie-related websites. The Doodle will live on in the archive.
Please help us get the word out to swing dancers and jazz lovers around the world by sharing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, email, etc.
Thank you for being part of this special event!
The Foundation has known about this since January, but had to keep it under wraps until the live launch. Now we can finally share this exciting news!
While Google did not say specifically that the Doodle was a result of the community’s efforts, we would like to thank the many volunteers, led by Dave Madison, who campaigned for a Google Doodle around the time of Frankie 100. We’re sure that your efforts helped to draw Google’s attention to Frankie. Thank you!
On Frankie’s actual birthday, May 26th, celebrate lindy hop and the swing era by donning your favourite swing threads. Whether that means capturing the spirit of the Savoy Ballroom in its 1920-50s pomp or simply wearing your favorite event t-shirt, the choice is yours. Have your photo taken at work, in your office, at your desk, at a cafe, on the street or wherever you may go and use the hashtag #TheLindyLook to share it on social media. More details here.

"Always gracious and kind, he was old school—treat your dance partner like they’re the most important thing in the world—because they are, at least for a song. The love and respect he gave came back to him in spades."
